Most betting in Bangladesh happens on a phone. That is convenient, and it is also the problem: the casino is in your pocket at the tea stall, on the bus and in bed at two in the morning while a European match drifts into extra time. The good news is that your phone already has tools to help. Screen time limits are free, built in and surprisingly effective when set up properly. This article explains how to use them to keep casino and betting apps in proportion.
Why phone limits work
The short answer: they make the decision for you in advance. When you are calm, you decide how much time you want to spend. Later, when the match is tight or the slot feels close, the phone reminds you, or simply locks the app.
It is the same principle as a match-day budget, applied to time. Our match-day budget guide covers the money side; this article covers the clock.
Tools on Android
Most Android phones include Digital Wellbeing, usually found in Settings. Menu names can differ between manufacturers, but the main features are similar.
If you use the casino in a browser rather than an app, set the limit on the browser, or use a site-specific limit where the phone supports it.
- App timers: set a daily limit for a specific app; when it runs out, the app pauses until midnight
- Bedtime mode: greys out the screen and silences notifications at a set time
- Focus mode: pauses chosen apps while you work or rest
- Dashboard: shows how long you spend in each app, day by day
Tools on iPhone
iPhones have Screen Time in Settings. It offers similar features with different names.
| Feature | What it does | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| App Limits | Sets a daily time limit for an app or category | Capping casino app sessions |
| Downtime | Blocks most apps during a scheduled period | Stopping late-night play |
| Website limits | Limits time on specific sites in the browser | Browser-based play |
| Screen Time passcode | Requires a code to extend limits | Making overrides harder |
Making limits hard to ignore
Every limit can be overridden, which is why the setup matters. Ask a trusted friend or family member to set the Screen Time passcode so you cannot extend limits on a whim. Put the casino app in a folder off your home screen. Turn off its notifications so promotions do not tempt you back.
Be honest with yourself about when you play most. If it is late at night during the IPL or European football, schedule downtime to start before those matches typically end. If it is during work breaks, use a focus mode.
Phone limits and account limits together
Phone tools control time. Account tools, where the casino offers them, control money: deposit limits, loss limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. We could not confirm which tools Mostplay offers, so check the account settings or responsible gaming section on the brand's own site or app.
Using both gives you two layers. If you find you keep overriding them, that is worth taking seriously. Our responsible gaming page has more ideas, and the slot autoplay article explains another setting worth controlling.
In three steps
How to set phone screen time limits in 3 steps
- 1Open your wellbeing settings
Go to Digital Wellbeing on Android or Screen Time on iPhone in your phone's Settings.
- 2Set an app or site limit
Choose the casino app or browser and set a daily time limit, plus a downtime or bedtime schedule.
- 3Lock it
Ask someone you trust to set the passcode, or make the override as inconvenient as your phone allows.
